A Birth Poem by Allistair Solomon

A Birth

Love fights it's war against distrust and despair
the light tracks the shadow deep into it's lair
the sound of your spirit hath set my soul free
the monster was tamed by the good and the fair

I used to imagine that one such as thee
could never have feelings for a villain like me
but my fractured heart you have begun to repair
the beauty of life I can once more see

On pain I had suckered, my entire bleak life
torture was my father, my mother was strife
Yet the future is uncertain, this one fact do I know
Born out of hatred, a lover did grow

So pray we be happy, as long as we can
the evils of the past we both must ban
