A Birthday Poem For My Dog - Malone Poem by John Meissner

A Birthday Poem For My Dog - Malone

Rating: 5.0

A dog does not judge, scold, or criticize the real you,
They enjoy when you act foolish, and will in turn act foolish too.
A dog does not cheat, feign, deceive or conspire to betray,
Their only aspiration is to win your everlasting love and praise.
One of the best things about a dog is that you are free to be yourself,
Their love, devotion, and companionship is by far the greatest form of wealth.
People will hurt you, lovers desert you and friends will come and go,
Dogs are more caring and faithful than most human you’ll ever know.
A protector, confidant, therapist and sympathizer all rolled into one,
Happy 10th Birthday to Malone, my Dog, my Friend, my Son.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem for my dog Malone on his 10th Birthday. Sadly, he passed away from cancer only eight days later. I offer this poem as a tribute to Malone, who will live on in our hearts forever.

I am so sad that you list your dog but I bet you have some wonderful memories of him. A lovely poem and a good write.
