A Blank Page Poem by Nadia Daniel

A Blank Page

Staring at the blank
what to fill it with?
My ideas have been used
already
filling pages with scurrying black lines of thoughts and words and imagination
other pages
not this one

it is white
like the sky at midday
too bright to look at, an empty expanse, with the promise of something dancing on the edge of the horizon
Or the froth on the sea
as it laps, grey across the stones and quietly slinks back before charging silently again
salty and full of silt
that whirls and dances like particles of dust on the warm summer breeze
Or the snow blanketing everything cold and mysterious
soon destroyed with booted footprints and car tracks and sledge trails and snow angels
which flap their wings trapped on the ground
fallen

now my page is half filled
with uselessness
but filled just the same.
