A Box And A Band Poem by Virginia Ramirez

A Box And A Band

As I hold it in my hands
Looking at the small red band
Holding it tightly, holding it firm
Thinking that it would squirm
Watching it as if it would move
Just waiting for you to prove
That this little box I hold onto
Is really to me from you
Staring at the little box
Just waiting for a little fox
To come on by and laugh at me
Saying “you and he aren’t meant to be! ”
I look at you and there I see
That one sweet smile that’s meant for me
I realize that this little box
Isn’t only filled with rocks
It’s meant for me and me alone
A golden band upon it a stone
As I hold it in my hands
The small box with a bright red band
