A Breast Grows In My Head Poem by Elizabeth Swados

A Breast Grows In My Head

A breast grows in my head
My brain has a nipple
The milk sways back and forth
making the lobes slosh
from bow to stern
I'm seasick.
Now tension shoves the breast
past my mouth and nose up past my eyes
to the very top of
of my sweetbreads
there it stays like jello, the nipple
like a berry filled with brandy
under hazelnut chocolate. If you
suck through the hole in my skull,
thoughts squirt out.
