A Brief Candle Poem by DIPANJAN BISWAS

A Brief Candle

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
Creeps in its petty pace from day to day
To the last syllable of recorded time
And all our yesterdays had witches and wife
To giggle at and gamble life.
They inspired me to disturb the universe
To measure beyond tea-spoons and coffee-cups.
I sucked the dogmas and licked the dust
And the city started panting fast.
It's a saga on the Ganges' shore
Which one day will never roar.
Oh! I am an anonymous- you and all
Who bargained blood at footway stall.
