A Broken Heart's Plea Poem by Lauren Pandy

A Broken Heart's Plea

Make me smile, make me laugh
Help me cut this pain in half
Give me a new set of eyes
Help me see past all the lies
Oh yeah, please give me a new heart
This one's been ripped apart
I really wanted you to be the one
Who would stand next to me
I wanted you to hold me tight
And tell me everything's alright
I guess I wasn't good enough
Even though you had my full trust
That one day you would come back safe
And we could go on our first date
I'd kept my word and waited for you
Guess you thought it too good to be true
I bear no bitterness your way
Only sadness that you wouldn't stay
I really wanted to be the one
To hold you tight lest you came undone
I would've walked a thousand miles
Just to see your face
I guess it doesn't matter now
Your heart's in another place
I'd like to think that you were really just protecting me
But everybody else wants me to see it differently
I do not know what I should say
Or really what I should think
All I know is missing you
Is making my heart sink
And now my heart is missing
Because it's six feet under
I feel this storm within my soul
I die with each clap of thunder
There was a spark between us
I think it is still there, but right now I'm too numb
My heart has broken, my soul has come undone
Loving you was something that just came so naturally
All I wanted in this world was for you to love me
There's so much more I want to say, but no words can describe
So I will leave this note unfinished in hopes this reaches your sight
