A Close Encounter Poem by Usman Anwar

A Close Encounter

A close encounter,
I could have been there,
Like them, eyes closed, skin cold,
Things left unsaid.
I could have joined the dead.
Without warning, the clock stops ticking,
Without goodbyes you fade away,
Leaving memories behind,
And people wishing for time to rewind.
If my clock stops,
And wets your eyes with tear drops,
Imagine my smile it won’t let you feel blue.
Remember I am a part of you…
Keep me in your heart,
If my clock stops and works us apart…
