A Cocktail - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

A mosaic of spirits
To the brim of sculpted glass
An elixir that bequeaths
Wings of emancipation
From the tethers of modernity
The scathing lesions of love
That perforates the heart's fibers
Like jagged edges of a carving knife
For man to soar like a feather
To the convivial heavens
To feel even for a second
Like an empyrean angel
To extract the roots of misery
From the soil of man
To vanquish the entropy of life
From the soul of man
To bestow on humans
The plumage to fly away
Far away in the the milky way
To his heavenly perch
Of an unheralded freedom
