A Coded Love Poem by Kevin Wang

A Coded Love

below the giggling stars
glistening with intertwined love
with the moon shining so bright
when it's the same everyday
but~

here he was
sitting on top of a roof
thinking of the very presence
the very aroma on the tip of his tongue
lingering on the whisper of the wind

from the contents of his mind
which he handles so delicately
as precious a sher
still dreaming of her
always

typing, texing
on the pad
where love is coded
but so lonely
'cause it's been just too long
just imagining the angelic voice he always cherished
it's just too little
how long
just how long must he wait

omitting the artificial light
from this phone
he took from his pocket
with a treasure dangling from it
the first, very first
gift she gave to him

just thinking of her
makes him want to hug her once more
too long to wait
so he will make this coded love
just for her
only that she reach deep inside
rather than touch only the surface of his chest beating
only she can understand
the love
how much he misses her
with these very words
he wants to hear from her parted lips
once more
just once

that
i love you
