A Dam Overflowed With Tears Poem by Surya Shaji

A Dam Overflowed With Tears

I'm a school student,
And a patriot, studying in native place,
While staying away from parents,
Who loves me a lot.
But I love my beautiful village,
Which is full of greenery and freshness,
That doesn't give me the feeling
Of staying away from my family.
But now, things have come to change,
Because of a nearby dam, between the boundaries of two states,
Which had been built years ago,
Now at the verge of destruction.
The controversy and conflicts about
This dam, is getting worst and
The nature has done by giving
Great warning on it.
My mother, who is away,
Is worried of my life,
As this destruction can wipe away
Thousands of innocent lives here.
In my mind, I can see
The tears of worry and fear
In my mother's eyes and
Her cry, which I can only hear.
Today, I can feel the strength
Of terror, which is increasing and
Keeping quiet, I think about the disaster,
That can cause, when the dam gets destroyed.
I can see many poor and helpless
People around me, with mind
Full of great fear and stark terror, and
Sleepless, as the coming disaster is haunting them.
But if I was with my family,
If we all are together,
There won't be any stress, even if
We are in big danger.
With candlelight, people all over
The country, is praying to the Almighty,
To bring a solution for this, so that,
We can still have a hope of survival.
