A Day To Be Remembered Poem by Fantasia Witiker

A Day To Be Remembered

It was quite a while ago...
When I heard you had to go.

You called and cried,
You said goodbye.

You explained it all,
The towers that would fall.

I stood and stared,
They wouldn't dare.

Or maybe they would,
They thought that they could.

It all happened in a few hours,
Those people were so sour.

I heard the first explosion,
The second came too soon.

The first tower crumbled,
We all thought we were doomed.

The second collapsed close after.
Wow, that was a disaster.

Bodies flying in the air,
They are lying everywhere.

It is sick and just so wrong,
The hours seemed to last so long.

The aftermath was just as bad,
The whole country was so very sad.

So we worked as one,
Our battle has begun.

We all stood strong,
For what seemed very long.

We showed we weren't afraid,
Of the people who were insane.

We showed we were unshakable,
we proved them incapable.

We as a country,
Are a giant family.

Now we have rebuilt,
We are no longer walking on stilts.

We have recovered as a nation,
It took much patience.

Although we will never forget the day,
We will remain strong no matter what they may say.

This is how a nation should be;
United, Happy, and Free!
