A Diamond Poem by Butterflies In My Belly Forever

A Diamond

Rating: 4.7

There was set in life to be
A diamond born,
Twas his destiny.
Though once he starting growing,
The diamond was too but he started knowing..
That we are born to live and die,
So he asked himself...'Why even try'?

The diamond inside him grew and grew,
Then life turned mean to him,
Cutting him, beating him black and blue.
Already feeling dead inside,
Deeper inside himself he went to hide.

Everyday as life went on,
His anger grew but the diamond shined on.
Every once in a while you could catch a glance...
Oh my, it would make your soul dance.
Then something happened one day..
Noone knew, he decided to keep that part from me and you.

I cannot wait to see that diamond.
That diamond so bright and brilliant with all the dust dirt and mud cleaned off.
I cannot wait for the wonderful shine..
That diamond that should have been mine.

I found this a very sad poem, heart felt. But a very clear voice as we read and feel the pain in it. A great poem

This is a touching and beautifully expressed poem, BIMBF, one that has a sad undertone to it. Like all of your fine poems, it has it's own uniqute style and plumbs the depths of emotions. There is both hope and sadness in this remarkable poem, especially in that wonderfully written final verse. Carl.
