Life is no movie
No song, no drama
It is cold hard facts
Thrown most unexpectedly
Most unceremoniously
At a least suspecting you
You lose your footing
Your balance
Your senses
Before you gather yourself together
Put a stitch here, a knot there
And pretend you are whole again
You tell yourself
You are stronger, wiser
More experienced, mature
While still feeling each ache
Each throb, each pain
Where the wounds had been
