A False Emotion Called 'love' Poem by Katherine Ortiz

A False Emotion Called 'love'

Rating: 5.0

love
I remember that feeling all warm and new
you gave me butterflies and it grew
but then you threw me away and
gave me an illness i'll have to endure
an illness that can never be cured

You toyed with girl's feelings and made
your own collection of heartbreaks
threw away those you didn't need anymore
while we wept through the night and
made sure to close the door
for we were scared and uncertain and wondered
where will it end?
way too frightened to peer past the bend.

Teached us a lesson we will never forget
keep running away from those we love and later regret
so we don't get hurt we filled ourselves with empty
emotion to get someone to notice us and help
when we cry and shout but end up as a yelp

We smile and laugh through the pain and betrayal
but won't ever fall in love
since we drown in our weakness while they smile above
we grow empty while they have no shame
and turn our days from blue to gray

We try to love again we really do
but those moments when our hearts broke in two
those are moments we will never forget
even with someone on your side

I will never forget that special day when you opened my eyes
because those memories are locked deep inside
in my heart they shall stay and never go away but

To fall in love and break
is another mistake
for when we find the special one
we will love once more and see the sun

In the end we all find out who's fake,
who's true and who would risk it all for you

Everyone will hurt you in some way. It's up to you to decide who you are willing to suffer for. Thanks, Katherine
