A Family Failing Poem by John Bannister Tabb

A Family Failing

Sneezed the Pepper, 'Sister Salt
Bids me say 'tis not her fault
That she's out of place to-day;
Turning, just below the Caster,
She upset, and the disaster
Holds her back in Mustard-plaster
That she cannot scrape away.'
'That trick of turning round she got,'
Said Vinegar, 'from Mrs. Lot.'
