A Far Better Man Than Me Poem by Francis Duggan

A Far Better Man Than Me

Rating: 5.0

He is the quiet achiever who lives in his own way
And of himself he is one who has little for to say
Not into self promotion nowadays not a common thing
One who leaves it to others if his praises they wish to sing
A man who loves his children and is faithful to his wife
He works hard to support his family and he lives a moral life
In his local community he is never to the fore
Yet the one in need of helping he never does ignore
He is just your moderate drinker and not a fan of sport
And he does not have a football team for to lend to his vocal support
A man who loves and cares for his wife and family
And anyone in need of his help he does help willingly
For those who are doing it tough he feels great empathy
The humble quiet achiever is a far better man than me.
