A Final Farewell Poem by Kaitlin Schmidt

A Final Farewell

Rating: 3.6

Tears fall, they just won't end
It seems my aching heart will never mend.
Any joy inside quickly dies
As I realize soon you will depart from my side.
From this earth you cannot leave just yet
My mind then fills with lifelong regrets.
I need you to stay here with me
I hold your hand tight as I plea.
But soon embrace your peaceful expression
And realize your life could never be measured
With anything other than love so true
Love that touched all of whom you knew.
All the ones you loved so very dearly
And even the ones you met just briefly
Happiness and inspiration you always brought
Fairness and kindness you always sought.
And now as we sense your days coming to a close
Where you go from here we all know,
The place where the Lord will be delighted to see,
The wonderful human He made perfectly.
In His arms He will hold you forever
In His arms fear will touch you never.
You will live in unending peace
As I imagine this, it becomes bittersweet.
Because I know you have completed the tasks
That the Lord of you so graciously asked.
No more will this world cause you pain
Soon we will be reunited once again.
Death is not easy, but a natural part of life
Just like love, happiness, trials, and strife.
I know over me your eyes will look down
And I will feel your love all around.
Sadness like joy will come and go
But the love I have for you will continue to grow.
Tears fall, they just won't end
But I know my aching heart will one day mend.

Final Farewell is bestowed upon each and every one of us, no one is spared in this world, not a single being or a thing..Let not be it tearful one, but the joyful one for some finish their work sooner than others..suffering is part of a mortal being..let suffering be not suffering but a thing to rejoice for we have played our parts so well without being aware of it..Lord's will prevails..Nice poem!

Nobody can imagine what your poem means except of having experience death of a loved one. Your poem conveys the final curtain that falls once our entire mission on earth is accomplished. It is not an end but just a beginning to another chapter...that is to be with our CREATOR...forever. I was deeply touched upon reading thouroughly your write...Each lines of the poem has given me strength to write again, I left many months ago...Thanks for this poem full of sadness but at the same time touch a hope for the future. Continue to inspire us Kaitlin, those like me who knew the parting of a dear love. Virginia

love touches all even for a few moment......death is inevitable....but it is not the end of life, it is a journey to another world to be with the creator for ever, all human emotion is temporary , GOD made human ferfectly ......all these are good content , nice thinking ........a nice poem full of statements ...it equates with the poem of lord tennyson 'CROSSING THE BAR'.....great! ! ! ! !

There can be no life without death nor death without life... The impression we make on those we leave behind is our own epitaph... Remember their life, not their death... I really like your poem...

The poem starts as a dead end, but gradually progresses into a series of mini-climaxes; a very detailed and wondrous poem written.Well done.
