A Fly Poem by Morgan Michaels

A Fly

Hey big ole fly flipped in last night
as we futzed on the patio
Doors ajar,
in flew the fly
zigga-zigga, boom, boom

Into the where-knows-who
like a comet dropt in the sun
fool by th' lamplight it flew
and waza gone
zigga-zigga, boom boom

Now it follow me everywhere
into kitchen, down hall
sing in broken fly
landing here, there
zigga-zigga, boom, boom

On the cheese-board
on the honey bear
on a tooth brush
on a tea cup's rim
zigga-zigga, boom, boom

Loving the screen
keen for the what-was
(the grass always greener)
doors to flies
the very doors of heaven
zigga-zigga, boom boom

One day it'll run out of steam
and fall from the air
flies don't live so long
nor their song
and I'll wonder where it's gone
zigga-zigga, boom boom.
