A Fool Believes

  I believed in your heart
Believed it good and pure
And I yearned to win a place there
With a flame that would endure

I believed in your soul
Confident that it was true
Never hesitant in my thinking
Never thought you’d leave me blue

I believed in your whispers
And your professions of desire
Reveling in the moments
As you fanned the spark to fire

I believed in your passion
And admired your strength and will
Always full of admiration
At the dreams that you’ve fulfilled

I believed in your spirit
Always trusting of your smile
Longed to linger in the sunshine
Never thought it could beguile

I believed in your honor
Had faith in your intent
Took solace in your integrity
Yet my love you circumvent

I simply believed in you...
And in everything you are
Never feared that you would hurt me
Or that my heart would wear this scar

But all that I believed in
While blinded from the clues
Only left me disenchanted
As this fool…believed in you!

What a beautiful poem. As you probably realize, I love rhyming verse. Yours is
so well-written, and filled with words from the heart. I loved it, my friend. Excellent writing! .......Hazel

Often relationships and other things, in life, reminds me of a movie.
The preview is sometimes better; than the featured presentatrion.

Nicely written, keep up the good work. Hope time will heal your scar...
