A Friend's Advice. Poem by John Thorkild Ellison

A Friend's Advice.

I cannot understand the way you feel -
To me she seems so ordinary and plain,
The whole thing is a fantasy, unreal,
It would be better, surely, to refrain
From following her about, she doesn't care,
Why don't you pack it in, find someone new,
A girl who will return your love to you
Not fill you with unhappiness and pain?
That is the truth and yet you still complain
The agony is more than you can bear,
Your love for her is driving you insane!
She only makes you tearful and distressed,
Find someone else and don't be so obsessed!
That's my advice, but you don't hear a word,
You carry on believing she will change,
You will not listen! I find it very strange
You cannot see the whole thing is absurd.
It would be best to leave her well alone,
It's a metaphor I know you must have heard -
It's 'easier to get blood from a stone! '
'You do not understand', I hear you say,
'You try to take my only hope away! '
Well, I give up! I've done my level best,
Sometimes I think you like to be depressed! !

Haha! Wow! This is such an awesome poem! How many times have every one of these sentences needed to be said to someone! ! ! Sometimes it's best to be brutally honest. As they say, the truth hurts! Very nicely written piece!
