A Gift Of Love Poem by Sara Jo Andrews

A Gift Of Love

You gave me a gift, a gift none else can give, the gift of love.
You taught me patience, you taught me forgiveness.
In you own ways, you are trying to teach me to look at things in better light.
You’ve neen there all alone, but it was me that was afraid and pushed away.
That year of silence was my doing as well as yours.
I could have called, I could have found you.
But I hid, not wanting to let myself need or want anything, even though I did.
I can’t ignore that now.
I’m not going to make that mistake again.
The patience and the forgiveness you taught me,
Is helping me understand the gift of love you gave me.
I want you to know that I am here always/
When you are ready, I’ll be here,
And to thank you for everything,
And most of all I hope I can return the wonderful gift of love
That you have given me.
