A Good Marriage Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

A Good Marriage

Rating: 5.0

Only for some
not for all

Two persons united as one
come what may

The good and the bad
The glad and the sad

Always remembering
two wrongs do not make a right

Always remembering
Children do not a marriage make

A pact between two
to always be true

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I am 66 and have been married 37 years. Marriage saved my life and it also improved my chess game. This poem is dedicated to my wife.

Sober thoughts brilliantly woven in an insightful poem. True essence of marriage aptly captured with conviction. Thanks for sharing, Darwin.

I have been single all my life-no baggage. I did not think I would be suitable for marriage. Just having children does not necessarily make a marriage successful as you say. The couple's first loyalty should be to each other.
