A Happy Burial Poem by Rajesh Thankappan

A Happy Burial

Rating: 5.0

Dear, let us bury the past
Lower the flag to half-mast,
Then set sail in a new direction
To unwrap new vistas unveiling at the horizon.

If we get bogged down in the past
Its waves like earthquake shall with us forever last,
And this shall coil and entomb us in a web
Like hopeless insects caught in a cobweb.

Thus let us now raise a toast to the future
And with today's effort tomorrows dream nurture
I believe our fledgling dreams can take flight
And break through bleak clouds to kiss the glorious light.

So let us plant the past in the depths of the earth
To raise a tree where our dream can flowers and perch.

i think i follow your reasoning, but NOT ALL of the past can or should be buried. at least not too deeply. of course, if you mean past as in unfortunate mistakes, and nasty speech and actions, then, by all means bury those. i would make two or three very minor edits, but i liked it. thanks. my favorite line: And this shall coil and entomb us in a web YIKES! bri :)
