A Herd Of Black Dots Poem by Nathan Pigott

A Herd Of Black Dots

Rating: 5.0

The year of depression - 2002.
Bangkok,12 o' clock, out of the blue,
Something familiar yet peculiar,
Someone playing a black guitar
Leaving an imprint on my mind.
I look at her - so close
Don't dare talk to her - so far
You're not my guinea pig
I'm not observing you
I'm just waiting in silent despair.

The Savoy, January 3rd -
Long forgotten isn't your face.
The party picks up, DJ quickens the pace
From darkness into the light,
from silence to full throttle flight,
You're there - my head explodes.
I walk to you to talk to you
thinking have i thought this through?
A champaigne glass, a chance,
But it's over too quickly.

Darkness appears at the white of my eye
A herd of black dots dance like flies.
Under the moonlight, across the alley,
I search for it on the hill and the valley.

The sun rises - another useless month.
I'm still thinking of that night -
'the rise and fall of me'
the only problem is, it's all falling
i'm waiting for something to happen -
Wedding bells - people clappin'?
No. Just to see her face again.
To comfort her when she's sore.
The start of another useless day,
And i'm thinking its a small world.
