A Hotdog And Fries Poem by Paula Glynn

A Hotdog And Fries

It is funfair night tonight,
And I need a hotdog and fries,
I need a good time, so I think I will go,
On the rollercoaster and then the ghost train,
Those spooky skeletons and witches,
Ready to put a curse on me,
As I hurdle deeper into the moving seat,
And I go on all the fast, dizzying rides.
For I am not a fearful person,
I can take the good with the bad,
And the scary with the scariest.
So I will meet my friends,
And we'll go on the dodgems and have candyfloss,
Shoot down those yellow rubber ducks,
Win a cuddly toy and give to my niece,
Enjoy the summer night under the stars,
And funfair lights, for it is late now,
And soon my friends and I will have to go,
But we'll be back tomorrow for more hotdog and fries,
And those blood pumping rides that give a thrill,
And, fingers crossed, the circus will come back to town,
A whole host of animals and clowns to entertain,
For I love those lions and elephants,
That people always stare at in awe and wonder.
But that is for another night, there will be other sights,
I just love this time of year: my friends do, too,
And with good reason, for tonight may be over,
But I skip through tomorrow to come back,
And to return to a groovy party of the heart.
