A Humble Success Poem by Avirat Shete

A Humble Success

Rating: 5.0

Success and Humility in equal measure
Let's strive for a self- balanced ledger

Rare combination to maintain, I know
As the former comes, I've seen the latter go

But let's remember, all the real great ones
Have won over the world without any guns

Being humble- a sign of greatness true
Tough job- like The taming of the Shrew

With success, comes a heady ego stout
Intoxicated, you want to prove your clout

Difficult feat to keep oneself grounded
Bloated egos on this planet have abounded

Lest we forget, the enlightened ones know
Being too proud, is a painful death slow

What goes up, must come down, Newton said
Not just the apple, it could be you instead

So while we scale heights of fame n glory
Remember, that's not the end of the story

The day we die, may people recall thus
Here lies a man, who lived without fuss

A gentle soul- kind and humble to the core
He'll live forever, in our songs and folklore.
