A Journey Poem by Romeo Della Valle

A Journey

Rating: 4.8

After traveling the universe,
I decided to travel my own earth,
carrying no luggage
Only my mind and heart!

In my way to Egypt,
I stopped in Jerusalem
Kneeling down and kissing
The Holy Land!

I kept going, landing
On top of a pyramid
Finding myself praying to the Lord,
In minutes I was in Mecca
Inspired by Prophet Mohammad!

I saw the green pasture of Ireland
Trying to find Rachel Ann Butler
And give to her my love
Along with a red rose!

I went across to
The United Kingdom
To meet Sir John Knight
To shake his hand,
Have a chat and show to him
My true friendship!

The trip seems endless,
So, I have no choice
But to keep on going
To reach my goal:
The message of love and peace
Throughout the whole world!

After being impressed
By the city's lights
From the top of the Eiffel Tower,
I flew to the Vatican City
Where I kissed the
Holy Father's hand!

Lost in the crowd and
Running away from the bulls,
I found myself tired in Barcelona,
I decided to get a physical and
Spiritual rest In the God's
Blessed land of India!

In my desperate need
To see the world,
I flew to the Philippines
Having the honor
To meet Lady Grace,
Whom I gave a kiss on her cheek!

Realizing I was still in New York,
Since I never really left,
Now, it is up to you
To tell me what happened,
For I am confused!

Hi Romeo - Wherefore art thou - on your Journey? This is a well structured poem presented in ten neat quatrains - intriguing content - it merits a full ten. It is good to 'Come Down to Earth' and there are 'must visit places'. Egypt - Isreal - Mecca and of course IRELAND - 'God's own Country'. Not forgetting a chance to meet some of the lovely worldwide PH Family. Rachel Ann Butler (lovely) and of course Sir John K in the UK (I know him very well and still love him!) . Paris - Rome - I have had a face to face meeting with the Pope - awesome. Barcelona is a GEM and India is a whole casket of exquisite JEWELS. We all love Lady Grace and it would be wonderful to embrace her. New York - New York - all human life is there and I will never forget my pilgrimage in 2002 to pay my respects to the iconic TWIN TOWERS and the memory of 3000 very very beautiful people. When you are in Central Park on a Sunny Day - in your imagination you can be anywhere and it does save on air fares. Thanks for the mention and thanks for the memory. Yours in Poetry - JOHN.

What do you feel confusing poet, traveling with the light-year or landing on kissing to a dear poet! What is confusing? We Indian believe that a God-Realised soul can be a particular species of fish (Pankaal) who swim just upper surface of the water and can hide itself within deepest low of mud. But never catch any mud in its fin. Your mental state of flying is narrated skillfully in the writing. You have landed after traveling the infinite universe to finite Earth. New york is in New york. And outwardly poet is within poet, but the innerself is expanded so widely...... we get such poetic offering. Thank you. LIVE LONG...WRITE MORE........ Regards, 10+ pranab

Poet, you are the man of the world with toleration and understanding on faith's issues and respect is your core value in this poem. I love to read this poem again and again for strong idea with real and affirmative concept of unity without boundaries. 10+ and you really deserve it.

I love the way you have given an account of your journey to the major tourist destinations of the world and that too without leaving your living room in New York. You have made it look like real and enviable. Thanks for your wonderful poetic skill, Romeo Della. Carrying in my luggage / Only my mind and heart... / Realizing I was still in New York, Since I never really left,
