A Lesson Learnt Poem by Leslie Alexis

Rain has fallen again
Musty it made the air
Muddy it made the soil
And it took the sun away

Rain has hidden the sky
The blue cannot be seen
The sea has become dark
Rain has dampened the heart
-
The rain has gone away
The ground has become dry
The land has all but died
The day is far too long

Take the Sun away, the
Land has shriveled up;
Sand is of no use to man.
Bring back the sweet smell

Of rain, to make plump
The shriveled heart;
And I will see joy
In the sun again.
