A Loss Poem by Garreth Eyssen

A Loss

A loss is a drain
It brings pain and no gain
You sit and wish it wasn’t so
Stand and look above to ask why
It’s all so wrong, it’s all so sad...

If you think it’s too much
Just remember the time you shared
Smile with those who were spared

Don’t give up the laughter you remember
Stand tall after your fall
This loss won’t break you for you are greater
The help is rewarding
The laughter is enough

If you lost a friend
A partner
A mother
A father
A sister or a brother

Remember the one loved the other
More than you know
More than you imagined
More than there is sand granules in this world we call home

Your world might be turned into darkness
Your light taken away
You need to turn the night into day

Don’t turn away
But accept, adapt
React as the strong person you are...
