A MEMORY OF FRIENDS

Pinned to walls of apartment
Halls leading to rooms of
Mansions
Where friends make their homes
Sometimes wings clipped fit
Inside frames - image stuffed
In sleeves of albums
Hidden where subatomic nuclear
Energies spin bonding our
Nostalgic histories together
By irretrievable misadventure
I am spinning here as though
I were there -hoping
To find spirit again
Both here and there -as though
A passenger invisible
On a Love Train
Spinning out to quanta edges
We are never left here alone
So tomorrow we will appear
Together
In another ‘Spacetime'
As spirits in a cloud pinned
To dust walls - I am here and
There -and you are there
And here -we must have
Forgotten our ‘Spacetime'
Departures and arrivals
We misstep on trains
But never slip
Returning to our lover.

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Edward Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
