A Moral Crisis Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

A Moral Crisis

Rating: 3.5

We are facing moral crisis
It has proved wrong the entire thesis
We have no to ground to offer any basis
It is exposing double standard with many faces

The moral ground has lost all its shine
No public figure can claim and feel fine
Some where their hands are seen in deal
They are in fact public figure but not honest or real

This speaks very badly of our system
The evil is coming out from the stem
It mushrooms with connivance and deceit
We are pushed to the corner with sealing of the fate

You have no one to claim for as respectable figure
Of course they are renowned but with sealed future
We know their shady deals taken in place but not exposed
How to trust them in future and once more to repose?

We are completely degraded and dipped so low
The poisoning process was gradual and very slow
It did not allow us to sense a dangerous movement
It was spoiling from within and about to collapse at any moment

Was it not there previously in our blood?
Or some change has taken place in our food?
Is it because of excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers?
Or loops holes left out by our forefathers?

May be possible that we are not groomed in proper environment
There is spurt in violence and birth of hostile and hate movement
We don’t see eye ball to eye ball and indulge in personal security
There is complete loss of trust and absence of essential amity

We pick up small coin if found fallen on the ground
We look around just to see the trick has worked very sound
Something has entered in mind and corrupted such large extent
We feel proud committing an act take even offence to lament

The environment has been completely polluted
The moral authority has been too diluted
There is no one who can claim free and immune
Whole system is out of gear and functioning out of tune

It has brought us down to a new low
We witness rapists turned out to be dignified below
Daughter falling victim to a father is something unheard
Son killing a father has become routine and commonly heard

Are we at the dead end or waiting for ghastly things to happen?
The unknown skeletons are falling from the cupboards even
The nitrogen or hydrogen bombs may deliver less damage
The whole of mankind is hungry only for lust and revenge
