A Morning Call Poem by David Harris

A Morning Call

Rating: 5.0

The silken thread of a cobweb
catches the first drops of morning dew.
They hang like a string of jewels
to sparkle in the first rays of the sun.

The fragrance of an awaking rose
whose scent wafts through the morning air,
as its petals unfurl one by one
to greet the morning sun.

The chorus of the morning birds
whose sweet song of praise,
rejoice the waking of a brand new day,
then alight to fly the freeways of the sky.

The sleepy head tucked in bed
listen for the alarm clock’s wake up call,
but when it sounds, they want to remain
where they are, missing the wonder of it all.

Good Morning to you David and your wonderful greeting of a poem with the awsome use of images.... It's the wee hours of the morning here for me and I'm off to my bed, big day tomorrow, lots to do and it's going to be another 92 degree day, humidity as well. I know you wrote this for the am but I am using it now for my pm. tuck myself under the down, a/c set nice and cool with a smile on my face as I go into the land of Winkin, Blinkin and Nod. Happy Saturday to you and Vera. ~~~love, marci.xo ~ ~ ~

David, I particularly love the content of this piece (as well as the evocative early morning imagery) . That moment when the alarm rings - when we have a choice. So difficult, often, but so worth it when the higher self wins and the day is fully experienced from the beginning. Mind you, going to bed a tad earlier might help... Great poem. love, Allie xxxx
