A Neighbourhood Centre Poem by Michael P. Johnson

A Neighbourhood Centre

In that small neighbourhood centre
I gave no thought to know
Where I never thought to enter
I never thought to go

But the reason I now know why
What caused that Sunday morn
Though quite alone and somewhat shy
Curiosity, was born

First and foremost, nothing was plane
Teaching why Jesus died
That very soon, as King He'll reign
The church, will be His bride

Reading the bible night and day
As thirst grew more and more
Through knowledge I saw The Way
To enter true life's Door

Through Jesus' death, through Jesus' blood
His gruesome tortured pain
Revealed a sinner as now I could
Reach Heaven, born-again

As trust grew strong, as faith grew fast
With life no more the same
God Almighty, The First & Last
Christ bore my sin and shame

So blessed am I knowing God's true
Knowing Jesus, Lord of all
Knowing to do, and not, to do
To rise never to fall

As life goes on, now old and grey
As thoughts run to and fro
Oft as I kneel, to God I'll say
'You led me where to go'.....
