A New Job Poem by Ken Murray

A New Job

Recently I have been taking a break.
Mostly it's due to my unemployment sake.
My company decided to do away with my job.
I was just 1 of 140,000 poor slobs.
I started out on a feverish pitch.
Applying to every position that scratched my job itch.
But looking for jobs is tedious at best.
I found myself taking more frequent rests.
I managed to do some work around the house.
But I found it hard, and I tended to grouse.
My wife was patient, and helpful, and kind.
Even though I spent more time on my big behind.
Finally a jewel in the rough I had found.
I truly felt that I was now homeward bound.
The interviews were both exhaustive and thorough.
But I felt I would soon be done with my furlough.
Before holidays came I got the good news.
I finally would cast out the job-seeking blues.
I start on Jan 10th and I cannot wait.
To have CIO work lying on my work plate.
My thanks to you all for your love and support.
And I guess I must shower and shave before I report.
Happy Holidays! ! ! ! !
