A New Scarlet Dawn Poem by Michael Walkerjohn

A New Scarlet Dawn

I settle in place
staying still…
This one Earth
waits on memories
as a newly crafted sky
comes before my life…
I can influence all of this
coming into all of the truths
once again falling unexpectedly
far from a place called “My Home”…
Long I stood, to view a single flower wilt
thoroughly looking and planning the part
where I can continue with all of my children
envisioning what was the point, in all of its
glory; assessing my future; to build love
once again in a hopeless town, love in
a fresh neo-country, all over again…
There I will, to free myself from
such associations and such
treasures that I have encountered
or not; resting in places I have seen and
continuing this thought; of settling down
on a new scarlet dawn
