A Place? Poem by Alexander Downie

A Place?

I need a place where the girls have better tattoos than the guys
I need a place where music embraces and people dance to feel alive.
I need a place where normal is taboo and culture clashes.
I need a place where morning colours rise and moonlight slashes.

I need a place where I can sleep secure and dream of tomorrow.
I need a place where neighbours are friends, which never lie fallow.
I need a place where my cranium is inspired with art to cajole.
Get me out of this place so I can unearth my gypsy soul!
