A Poetic Analysis Of Poetry Poem by Catie Belle Stark

A Poetic Analysis Of Poetry

Sometimes I feel like my poems are too short,

I could make them a little longer I guess,

But sometimes short and punchy is good,

After all, I don’t want to end up like Walt Whitman,

My God, he’s boring!

Sometimes I feel like my poems are too depressing,

I write most of my poems as my usual happy self,

But sometimes I feel depressed and lonely and in desperate need of an outlet,

But I don’t want to end up like Sylvia Plath,

She went crazy and killed herself,

I’m crazy in a fun way,

Not in an asylum kind of way!

Sometimes I feel like my poems are too damn cheerful and funny,

I’m usually a happy, easily amused person,

But most poetry is dark and deep,

I don’t want to end up like Dr. Seuss,

Making up words and having a ridiculous pseudonym!

But I guess all poetry is weird in one way or another,

I guess I’ll keep myself and my poems pleasantly strange.
