A Poets Curse Poem by Charlotte Ambrosia

A Poets Curse

we read these beautiful writings
we dream those imaginative poems
with the word and letter structure so perfect
it is almost a need to call our own

they match our situation
so perfect the use of verse
when all our own thoughts fail us
their lines we never fail to rehearse

so as poets we look for new insperation
as we know all the stones have already been turned
all the destinations have already been discovered
even still we hold on to the classics, the famous and the learned

like thieves we take to the night
looking for gold to make it a treasure of our own
but as the artist curse comes with the karma that carried it
our own words will never truly inspire us

The beautiful words are almost empty and emotionless
because they are not capturing the moment as we planned
even though we know that they once sounded so beautiful in our head
and that moment we first came to love those words

well that is a distant memory now
they will not inspire the heart that had dreampt them
however they will inspire the minds of the dreamers
and they will inturn will take it from you and make it their own

and you will one day read it without realizeing
these words will never truly be owned
but with new eyes you once again become inspired
and with a new mind you take to the night

Brilliant. something that all the members of this site can relate to. i love what you said about words not being able to be owned, it's so true. and you're right, there is a poem on every single topic under the sun so we're not likey to find something new to write about- except our own story. Nobody has ever lived our life before, and that is where you'll find uncharted areas of poetry. Good job. With respect, Abby

OMG How strongly the minds of a poet work together, the title of the poem I HAD IN MIND, but your words are so devine. I just don't think I could have been as good. Wonderful Job 10++
