A Prayer



Let us pray
That our day
Begins and ends
The same way
In love with those
In whose hearts sprout
Smiles that blossom
On their radiant faces
Manifest graces

God, keep us from those
With Machiavellian pose
Of an expanding smile
But inward vile
With honey-tipped tongues
And hearts full of guile
