A Prayer To A Departed Hero Poem by Bieze Josphat

Kajwang has exited
the stage
after sowing
mapambano seed
on the fertile soil
of this country, Kenya.
May we labour
in nurturing the seed
to a mature tree
that will provide shade
to travellers
and homes for weaver
birds of this country.
May the tree
beckon the rains to
arrest dust on
democracy road
and sharp pebbles
that blister
soles of our feet
be washed by it.
And may the earth
lay lightly
on his body.
