A Prisoner of the Mind

User Rating:

  Locked in dark alleys of lost hope –
thunder clouds appear everywhere;
loud noises, are amplified as a cloth…
is thrown over the cage like a bird trapped
into time; with nowhere to turn but just
in the forsaken cage of walls.

A prisoner of the mind is:
when no noises of freedom are brought into sight.
But a despair of darkness overcomes
within the world of a desperate
globe that is turned upside down as;
dark alleys lope around:
a prisoner of the mind.

Very sad poem but again, nicely written. I enjoy your dark poems Celine. You express yourself well.

Lots of startling imagery here. You paint a picture of darkness and loss of hope. Excellent work though, but I feel you need a Valentine Poem. Karin Anderson

Celine...
I read this through several times, each time slower than the first. I feel a tempo to this that tells me that this was as much released from the spirit as it was written by the hand. A lot of angst that poured out and perhaps, there remains much more that needs to be exorcised..There is a strong impression of the biographical mixed with the observational in this piece. Very well written in a way that gives the discerning spirit a little peek into your heart.

This description was so vivid that it was as if the prison of the mind was a place you have been. Perish the thought.
