A Promissory Note... Poem by Frances Kay

A Promissory Note...

With an inalienable right to flower ~ in-deed
The journey began of a thought in a seed
Prise open the surface and break the ground through
To greet God knows what, and what shall I do?
Awakening from a dream
From a mist came a scene
Where I was to observe something funny ~
A compensatory note, labelled money
Promising the Bearer
To make their life fairer
A trick ~ clever, and nicely thought through
Where many now legally enjoined do
In a roundabout game
To play, tie their name
Adhered with nothing substantial but a nation
As support to uphold, a law in it's translation ~
A notion based fiction to a concrete based fact
Giving credence to a burden bearing goods based pact
Between they who would offer
From an empty based coffer
A debt of one's labour, one's time and one's breath
Giving something for nothing is all that is left
Of the veil that informed their base of intention
Neglecting to make known, or to us make mention
Their ideal to trans-figure, the ladder to climb
Upon our backs how to lie a burden of crime...
Oh yes they are clever, than us did think better
To name themselves 'creditor' and us 'dear debtor'
That upon our birth we are registered and enter
The stream of an agreement that enforces them mentor
To a government based nation of those who forgot
To be their own story, who settled on their lot
Neglecting their own statute ~ a monolith sublime
That 'to create' is our maxim, God given line
Stretching through eternity to meet us in time
Where now we are sent for
Construed under new law
To attend to a game where openly at court
A sentence can be passed upon nothing but naught
By those now known as the govern-mental-state
'Gainst a-not-ther whose judgement not birthright is fete
Embellished upon a promissory note
The bearer of which tends to lose its own coat
And though the story appears at an end
Installed lies an escalator to highly commend
So forgive one a-not-ther(e) , it's all just pretend...
