A River Is A Woman Poem by Aimanu B. Ali

A River Is A Woman

A river is like a woman.
A beautiful picture,
A joy to all who behold.
She sings, she dances,
Curve away from admiring glance
Digging channel in their chests.
A woman she is,
Sweet, smiling and forbearing,
With a song in her heart.
A song of joy that echoes
In the hearts of mountains,
Valleys and all she passes.
She flows on, a dancing belle
Spreading the message of love.
She is abused,
Her sanctity compromised.
She takes in all in silence,
Until her tribulation overflows.
An angry woman, inundating
With a vengeance everything
That dares to face her wrath.
A woman, she prefers
To play the benevolent healer.
She heals the lands,
She heals the men,
Slowly with stroking hand.
She sings, she dances,
Curve away from admiring glance.
