A Snowy Day Poem by Evelyn Morgan

A Snowy Day

The world seems to be done over
in shades of white and gray.
The sky is white as the ground
and just as cold.
Pavement is charcoal gray;
houses are drab as layers of shale.
Trees look black against the whiteness
but closer inspection finds them
to be also barked in somber gray.
Outside it may be too desolate for words
but inside is all rainbow-hued.
Perhaps I could share a little
with the world outside,
at least enough to color her dreams
as she snuggles in sleep
beneath her cozy cotton quilt.
