A Song For Eileen O Connor Poem by Francis Duggan

A Song For Eileen O Connor

May she rest in peace Eileen O Connor she had her ups and downs in life
She was a good mum to her children and to Will O a very good wife,
She had her black crosses of sorrow but with her heart breaks she somehow did cope,
They say at the end of the tunnel there is always a bright ray of hope.

'Tis sad to think she's gone forever that in Kippagh she won't be seen again
But what's a loss to Millstreet and Balydaly to Heaven is surely a gain,
She answered the call of the reaper the reaper who will claim us all
And good memories of a marvellous woman are left for us for to recall.

She knew of life's joys and black sorrows and an easy life she never had
But she battled on rather bravely and she took the good with the bad
In Millstreet cemetery her bones now resting and though the life breath from her may have gone
The great soul of Eileen O Connor is forever destined to live on.

This song is for Eileen O Connor from all of us a last goodbye
She was one who knew of black sorrow though she also knew of great joy,
She will be missed by all who knew her though fond memories of her we'll retain
And her loss to the Parish of Millstreet to Heaven is surely a gain.
