A Song For Esteria Poem by Francis Kokutse

A Song For Esteria

Your voice from afar
sounded like the song-bird
that was singing in the morning.

I hear you have the heart of a dove;
I felt it when you spoke through the wires,
It gave definition to the contours
that are hidden under the cloths.

I am told your smile every morning
gives meaning to life;
That a hungry lion may come to lay
at your feet just to understand your smile.

You gave meaning to love;
And you may not understand
But that is why those of us
who are not near the dancing ground
want to clap without hearing you sing.
