A Song Without Words Poem by Sherri Gagliardi

You play me a song with no words-

You make me listen to your heart, in music
but there is an empty hole where the lyrics are left unwritten

I tell you to write them
hoping for a glimpse into your soul

But there are still no words in the song
you hide your feelings behind the music

So I wait
To hear
What can not be heard

I wait impatiently, patient
I hope anxiously, calm
I dream painfully, soothed
