A Stack of Ideas

I moved about,
From row to row—
Squatting from time to time—
Just so I could collect
A stack of ideas—
Some books and
Some music—
Paper and
Plastic—
Thoughts and
Feelings—
Perhaps the whole of all humanity—
From birth...to death—
Or just a stack—
Simplicity in my hands—
And its limits

poet John Clare

I love to see the old heath's withered brake
Mingle its crimpled leaves with furze and ling,
While the old heron from the lonely lake
Starts slow and flaps its melancholy wing,
