A Tale Of Two Kitties Poem by Sergio DuBois

A Tale Of Two Kitties

Rating: 4.5

Scurried hand on the floor
Display noticed
Poised in attention
A flury of fingers
Crouched and twinkle toed
Advancing
So cute
Again
And again
And

Charge!
Lightning strike
Connection in a flash
Fear left behind
In a puff of smoke

The first
Arched for the touch
Turned away and looked back
One long look
That said 'you're thinking'

So I picked her up
And brought her to lap
And she took one last stroke
Walking away indignantly
Glancing back at my surprise
And enjoying
Space

When the second walked up
I reached out a finger
To tickle her so gently
And when she turned away
I looked and waited
Waited with the longing
Just a moment longer
A second after
that uncomfortable gap

She looks back
Tilts her head
To see me better
And dances her appreciation
Her arched back swaying
In so loveable a tease

For the touch not felt
And the space that
Our brief contact
Dissolved into

How sweet
That lipless
Kiss
